I was born April 19, 1957 in Oakland, California. (For American history buffs, April 19th was the date in 1775 when the 'Shot heard 'round the world' was fired which kicked off the American Revolutionary War.) The U.S. consisted of 48 States (Alaska would be admitted to the Union on January 3, 1959, and Hawaii on August 21, 1959). Sputnik was launched on October 5, 1957. So, I came into the world while the United States was still 'forming itself' and before the start of the 'Space Race'.

I grew up in California, spending my early years (up through the 2nd grade) in the San Francisco Bay Area. From 3rd through 10th grade, I lived in Northern California and the Sacramento Valley. In 1973, after finishing my first year of High School, I moved to Alaska, where, except for a period between 1975 and 1978, I've permanently resided.

I have two siblings, both younger; a brother, who lives in Alaska with his family, and a sister, who, with her husband, currently live in Minnesota.

My father still lives in California with his second wife. My mother has passed away.

I'm a high school graduate and have a few years of college (no degree, as I never felt the desire or need to obtain one).

I served about 13 years in the Alaska Army National Guard before desiding I didn't want to do it anymore. I attained the rank of Captain. I have worked full-time for the Alaska Army National Guard as a federal civilian employee for 23 years so far. My goal is 30 years, at which time I intend to retire.

I enjoy computers, the Internet, Kubuntu Forums, good coffee, beer, wine, and single malt scotch. I own a 2002 Harley Davidson (my first Harley) and am a Harley Owners Group Life Member.

I was a life long registered Republican, but switched to Undeclared in 2013. But first and foremost, I'm a Conservative. I believe that 'less is more' and that a 'government that governs least, governs best.' Unfortunately, we don't enjoy that in the U.S. anymore.

I'm a gun owner and fervently believe in the personal right to 'keep and bear arms'. I am a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and STRONGLY believe in and support the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution.
