HOUSTON - At 5'7 and 350 pounds, Darrell Dunn was desperate to lose weight. Dunn was a diabetic, he had high blood pressure and says he couldn't even walk 100 yards without becoming out of breath.
"The muscles in both legs snapped and the ligaments snapped off the bone. Completely off the bone," an emotional Dunn recalls about the day when his legs couldn't hold him anymore.
Wheelchair bound and desperate for help, Dunn asked his doctor what he needed to do to.
The response was one he had heard many times before – Lose weight.
But this time, Dunn listened.
His weight loss journey began at the YMCA. It was a place where he felt comfortable, surrounded by others with the same goal he had.
"What I did was make small goals. What I would do is actually sit down and write those goals out. I wouldn't say, 'Oh! I want to lose 50lbs.' I would say, 'I want to stop drinking soft drinks'."
Now five years later, 140lbs lighter and able to walk on his own two feet, Dunn's weight loss goals have become a reality.
Watch the video above to see Dunn's incredible transformation.
"The key is to keep going," said Dunn. "You have to keep going."
