Tim Peake, a former British army major,<span style="color: Red;">*</span>will become the first astronaut to perform a spacewalk wearing the Union Jack<span style="color: Red;">*</span>when he<span style="color: Red;">*</span>steps<span style="color: Red;">*</span>outside the International Space Station<span style="color: Red;">*</span>on Friday to replace a failed voltage regulator.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Assisting<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Peake will be<span style="color: Red;">*</span>American Maj.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Tim Kopra, who will be on his third spacewalk. The repair<span style="color: Red;">*</span>job<span style="color: Red;">*</span>begins<span style="color: Red;">*</span>at 7:55 a.m. ET and is expected to take more than six hours.<span style="color: Red;">*</span> Peake, the first Briton to visit the space station, has already had quite a trip: He "ran"<span style="color: Red;">*</span>a London marathon and created a buzz<span style="color: Red;">*</span>after dialing a wrong number from space.
President Obama to be interviewed live on YouTube
Following up on his State of the Union Address, President Obama will answer questions live on YouTube on Friday. The interview, to be conducted by YouTube personalities Destin Sandlin, Ingrid Nilsen and Adande Thorne (aka sWooZie), will include questions submitted on social media using the hashtag #YouTubeAsksObama.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>The White House no doubt is hoping for lots of eyeballs: Obama's final State of the Union got the smallest audience<span style="color: Red;">*</span>since<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Nielsen started keeping track in 1993.<span style="color: Red;">*</span><span style="color: Red;">*</span>You can watch the interview<span style="color: Red;">*</span>at 2:15 p.m. ET on the White House's official YouTube channel.

Rare winter hurricane sets sights on island chain
Hurricane Alex, the first hurricane to form in the Atlantic Ocean in January in nearly 80 years, is forecast to bring heavy winds and rain to the central Azores on Friday. The rare winter storm could spur life-threatening flash floods and mudslides in the island chain 850 miles west of Portugal. The Atlantic hurricane season typically runs from June through November. Alex is only the third hurricane ever recorded in January in the Atlantic Ocean.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Record-high water temperatures have<span style="color: Red;">*</span>spurred on the unusual weather event.

Armed group to share exit plan for Ore. wildlife refuge<span style="color: Red;">*</span>
The armed group that took over a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon more than a week ago will host a community meeting at 7 p.m. PT Friday to explain its position<span style="color: Red;">*</span>and announce when it will leave. It comes as resentment toward the group<span style="color: Red;">*</span>grows<span style="color: Red;">*</span>among the residents of Burns, Ore.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>The group arrived Jan. 2,<span style="color: Red;">*</span>initially to show support for two ranchers convicted of burning public land, but then took over buildings at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and refused to leave.

2015 was biggest year for VC investing since 2000
Silicon Valley investors may be bracing for a plunge in venture spending this year, but last year was cause for celebration. About $58.5 billion was invested by venture capitalists in 2015, according to a PricewaterhouseCoopers and National Venture Capital Association report published Friday. The MoneyTree™ Report shows that 2015 was the biggest year since 2000, when nearly $105 billion was invested. But there are signs the funding party may be waning. The fourth-quarter numbers show the smallest amount of funding since the third quarter of 2014 and<span style="color: Red;">*</span>declines from 2015's third<span style="color: Red;">*</span>quarter: 32% in dollars and 16% in deals.
