2. February's jobs report released
The non-farm payroll report on last month's numbers is due out 8:30 a.m. Friday from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Its release will indicate whether job creation momentum continued despite winter weather and a port worker strike on the West Coast. Economists have forecast that 240,000 new jobs were created, compared to 257,000 in January. If that number is right, the economy will continue a months-long streak in 200,000-plus gains.

3. Dawn spacecraft set to rendezvous with planet
A NASA spacecraft is about to reach the end of a nearly eight-year journey and make the first rendezvous with dwarf planet Ceres. The Dawn craft will slip into orbit today around Ceres. Dawn had to travel some 3 billion miles to reach the largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. "It's been a roller coaster ride. It's been extremely thrilling," project manager Robert Mase of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory said.

4. Obama to cheer success of 'My Brother's Keeper' in S.C.
President Obama will tout the success of his "My Brother's Keeper" initiative when he speaks at Benedict College in Columbia, S.C., on Friday. More than $300 million in funding has been committed to the program, which partners government with businesses and philanthropic groups to help high-risk young men of color, far surpassing the initial goal of $200 million. Columbia was one of the first cities to adopt the initiative.

5. It's National Day of Unplugging
You can use the Internet to learn about the National Day of Unplugging, to pledge to join it, to post an Instagram photo of yourself holding a sign, and to get e-mail reminders to unplug — but when it comes to actually doing it, you're on your own. The day of putting down your devices was inspired by Jewish tradition, according to the organization behind the effort. Now that you're up to speed on what you need to know today, maybe today's your day for a break.
