1. Obama welcomes China's president for a stately day
President Obama and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping will announce a climate change deal Friday, building on an agreement the men reached when Obama visited Xi in late 2014. Xi is in Washington for his first official state visit, complete with a formal dinner at the White House Friday night. Though they agree on global warming, Obama and Xi are likely to have tense talks over allegations of cyber theft and a Chinese military buildup in the South Chinese Sea while they're together.

2. Much talked-about new<span style="color: Red;">*</span>iPhones become<span style="color: Red;">*</span>reality in the U.S.
The iPhone 6S<span style="color: Red;">*</span>and 6S<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Plus will be available in U.S. stores Friday. Although the new phone may look a lot like the iPhone 6, it touts 18 new features. For starters, the material used on the new devices is made up of an aluminum alloy that is supposed to make for a stronger, more robust phone. Other key features include increased mega pixels for better selfies, extra microphones for improved voice quality on videos, and a new color option of Rose Gold. Prices for the new phone range from $199 to $499 (depending on storage capacity) on a two-year contract, or for installment plans of $27 and $31 a month for 24 months.

3. Amazon slashes Prime price for new members
For those who want to own an Amazon Prime membership, but have been held back by the $99 price tag,<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Friday is your day. Amazon is celebrating its first Emmy win by offering Prime memberships for $67 to new members on Friday only. This deal is in celebration of the e-commerce giant's successful night at the 67th Primetime Emmys, where Amazon's original show Transparent won five awards.

4. Pope Francis takes Manhattan
The pope's only full day in NYC is a busy<span style="color: Red;">*</span>one. Pope Francis will first meet with the United Nations General Assembly to celebrate its 70th anniversary. The pope will next attend a multireligious ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial Museum, and then visit a school in East Harlem. Later in the afternoon, he will lead a procession through Central Park, for which about 80,000 tickets were awarded by the city in a lottery pick. The day will conclude with a mass held at Madison Square Garden, where he will sit in a chair built mostly by immigrant day laborers.
5. Volkswagen expected to appoint new CEO
A few days after Volkswagen's CEO resigned from the company amid scandal, reports say a new CEO will be appointed Friday. All eyes are on Matthias Mueller, currently CEO of the company's Porche brand.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Martin Winterkorn<span style="color: Red;">*</span>resigned Wednesday amid intense pressure over the company's admission that it rigged 11 million diesel cars with software that was designed to trick regulators into believing the vehicles were compliant with emissions standards.

Weather:<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Friday will see quiet weather for most of the country, with the one exception being the soggy Southeast.
