1. German anti-Islam rally Monday threatens new tensions
A massive march by anti-Islam nationalists planned for Monday threatens to raise new religious tensions — and potential violence — in Europe in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks in Paris by radical Muslims. Germany's justice minister has urged the group called Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West to cancel its demonstration, but the group vowed to go ahead with a rally that will commemorate the 17 people killed in the Paris attacks.

4. Supreme Court to hear church-sign case
This week the Supreme Court will jump-start its January calendar by trying to read the minds of Gilbert, Ariz., town officials accused of discriminating against a local church by restricting signs advertising prayer services. When Good News Presbyterian Church makes its case against the town of Gilbert on Monday, the argument will be that the town discriminated against it by restricting the size, placement and duration of its signs.

5. Fast-food deals hit winter burst
You know it's winter in Fast Food Land when a blizzard of hot deals fall from the sky. Fast-food giants from Burger King to Taco Bell to Chipotle are promoting eye-popping, stomach-flipping deals hoping to nudge consumers out of their toasty homes during what is traditionally the coldest time of year for the $200 billion fast-food industry. Burger King on Monday will announce the return of one of its most popular deals from last fall: 10 chicken nuggets for $1.49. That's about half the usual price of $2.99 and it takes a serious jab at a popular McDonald's promotion that comes and goes of 20 Chicken McNuggets for $5.
