Al Sharpton leads D.C. march after deaths of Brown, Garner
Protesters from as far away as Florida are catching buses to the nation's capital to march Saturday for an end to racial profiling and police discrimination. The demonstration is just the latest in a series of protests that have rocked the USA after two white police officers were not indicted in separate cases involving the deaths of two unarmed black men — Eric Garner in New York City and Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo. Families of those two men, as well as three others recently killed by police, will join Al Sharpton's Justice for All March. The parents of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teen killed in 2012 by a neighborhood watchman, are also set to participate.

It's a bird, it's a plane! Nah, it's a meteor shower
It'll be quite the show this weekend as the Geminid meteor shower lights up the skies. Peaking between 9 p.m. Saturday and the early morning hours Sunday, the Geminids are named for the constellation Gemini, the point from which the meteors seem to radiate. What will the view be like? "...it's more like decent," scientist Heather Preston.

Newtown remembers the Sandy Hook shooting
Two years later, the pain — and the wrenching anxiety — linger. On Dec. 14, 2012, heavily armed Adam Lanza walked into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., and opened fire. Twenty young children lay dead, along with six adults, before Lanza killed himself. In Newtown's tragic wake, the terms "lockdown" and "lockout" have become cemented in the education vernacular.
