NFL gets closer to a Super Bowl showdown
After more than four months, it all comes down to Sunday to determine who ends up representing the NFC and AFC in Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1. The Seattle Seahawks will host the Green Bay Packers and banged-up Aaron Rodgers in Seattle (3:05 p.m. ET, Fox), where the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks have lost just twice in two years. The Indianapolis Colts are 0-3 against the New England Patriots since quarterback Andrew Luck entered the league in 2012. But the Colts get a shot at revenge when the teams battle in Foxboro, Mass., at 6:30 p.m. ET (CBS) with Patriots coach Bill Belichick seeking his record-breaking 21st playoff win.
It seems the home teams have quite the advantage on Sunday as USA TODAY Sports' NFL staff seems relatively one-sided in its picks for both games. Follow USA TODAY Sports for updates.

Whitney Houston's tragic rise and fall from fame explored in new biopic
Lifetime viewers will get some insight into Houston's life Saturday when Whitney makes its television debut. Directed by actress – and former costar with Houston – Angela Bassett, the biopic will focus on her career as it intertwined with controversial husband Bobby Brown. Houston's mother, gospel singer Cissy Houston, has disavowed the TV movie, while Brown is participating in an interview on Lifetime at 10 p.m. ET/PT Saturday, in conjunction with the movie.
Terrence Ford, 31, of Laurel, Md, and Kisha Stephens, 32, of Ellicott City, Md., get a glimpse of the hearse carrying Whitney Houston's body to New Hope Baptist Church. At right is Catherine Graham-Ross of Montclair, N.J., who is holding small binoculars to get a closer look. Kisha got emotional when she saw the hearse and said, "I could have gone my whole life without seeing that."<span style="color: Red;">*</span>(Photo: Eileen Blass USAT)![]()

The Pope closes his visit to the Philippines with solemn weekend
His holiness closes his five-day trip to the Philippines this weekend after spending the later part of the week meeting with the nation's large Catholic population. Pope Francis on Saturday had to cut short his trip to Tacloban, in the central Philippines, because of an approaching storm. There, he met survivors of Typhoon Haiyan, which killed more than 5,000 people in November 2013. His visit to the country culminates Sunday with a public Mass in Manila's Rizal Park that is expected to draw up to 6 million people. He returns to the Vatican Monday.
