1. 'SNL' turns 40 and is bringing out the big guns
Jimmy Fallon, Sarah Palin, Justin Timberlake and Eddie Murphy are just a few of the big names appearing on this Sunday's three-and-a-half-hour Saturday Night Live special. It'll be a full house of present and former SNL stars, returning hosts and celebrities, and undoubtedly, a few surprises. Fallon reassures us that the high-energy comedy show will pay homage to the great people that have been on it. Grab your sweetheart or just grab a chocolate bar, sit on the couch and turn on the TV. The special airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

2. NBA All-Stars take it to the court
For basketball fans, it's a weekend you don't want to miss. The basketball all-star competition kicked-off Friday night with the celebrity game at 7 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden. All events culminate Sunday night as 24 NBA superstars face off against one another for some coastal camaraderie. New York Knicks all-star Carmelo Anthony, even with a knee injury that will require surgery, is expected to make an appearance. Don't think it'll be huge? Nike turned an entire street corner of New York City into a shoe box to honor the games.

3. West Coast ports halt in labor dispute
The Pacific Maritime Association said that over the weekend it will halt loading and unloading at 29 West Coast ports from Tacoma, Wash., to Long Beach, Calif., due to an on-going labor dispute. Management doesn't want to pay higher premium wages for weekend and holiday operations while its workers, represented by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, are conducting a work slowdown. The union, representing 20,000 dockworkers, handles an estimated $1 trillion in goods annually.

4. Snow 'hurricane' to strike New England
And the snow continues. A ferocious blizzard — as powerful as a Category 2 hurricane — is forecast to hammer parts of the Northeast and New England with heavy snow, howling winds and pounding waves late Saturday into Sunday. The heaviest snow will stretch from northeastern Massachusetts to coastal Maine with more than a foot expected. Wind gusts could approach 70 mph in some spots — strong enough to cause structural damage and widespread power outages. Stay safe out there!

5. Airlines offering free chocolate
If you can get off the ground and fly somewhere this weekend, airlines are doing their part to make your Valentine's weekend trip sweet. On Saturday, JetBlue passengers can enjoy complimentary Dylan's Candy Bar cookies on flights, while in-airport passengers can take advantage of a special discount offer at participating Dylan's at the Detroit airport and at New York's JFK. Meanwhile, airlines like Southwest and United are serving complimentary Valentine's Day-themed cocktails named "Casanova" and "Cupid's Arrow," in addition to handing out sweepstakes entries for a trip to the American Country Music Awards.
