1. Cossacks motorcycle gang cancels annual rally
Although the gathering has been peaceful for more than a decade, an annual rally held by one of the biker gangs involved in the Waco, Texas, shootout is canceled this weekend. The Cossacks cooperated with police and suspended its annual "blowout" in the tiny town of Mingus. The road leading to the rally site will be shut down, too. "I'm still not convinced" that the town won't have some kind of turnout, said Palo Pinto County Sheriff Ira Mercer.

2. Memorial Day tradition: Indy 500
The flag drops on the 99th edition of the race in Indianapolis Sunday (12:15 p.m. ET) with 2008 winner Scott Dixon leading the field from the pole. It's been 10 years since Danica Patrick nearly won the race, and the IndyCar circuit still looks to regain momentum. One driver that could help is Hélio Castroneves, who has won the race three times and will be aiming to tie the record of four wins set by Al Unser Sr., A.J. Foyt and Rick Mears. Also worth watching is if Marco Andretti can break the family's curse at the Brickyard with the help of his dad, Michael, returning as his race strategist. If the Indy drama isn't enough, don't forget NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway just a few hours after the winner drinks his traditional glass of milk from victory lane.

3. Happy 116th birthday, Jeralean Talley!
The world's oldest living person celebrates another big birthday on Saturday, turning 116. What's the native Michigander's secret? Staying active and fit. Until recently she played the slot machines at casinos, bowled until she was 104, and even mowed her own lawn at 105. She also went on annual fishing trips with a friend and his son, and in May 2013, at age 114, caught seven catfish. Talley is one of three people living who were born before 1900.

4. Cannes tells us which new movie we really must see
A new movie title is going to hit our "must-watch" lists very soon when the Palme d'Or is announced Sunday. The most prominent award at the very prominent Cannes Film Festival is awarded to one of the titles screened in the famous French town. We already know which can't win, and that's Pixar's Inside Out, which screened as an out-of-competition film. The star-studded nine-member jury is led for the first time by two presidents: brother Joel Coen and Ethan Coen. We wouldn't be surprised if The Sea of Trees, Sicario or Carole takes home the win.
5. Millions to tune in to Eurovision Song Contest
A TV audience of about 200 million worldwide is expected to tune in Saturday for the 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. The 40-nation extravaganza, which this year for the first time includes wild-card Australia, catapulted into world consciousness last year with a controversial win by bearded Austrian diva Conchita Wurst. The winner will be decided by votes weighed equally between a jury and viewers.
