1. French day of mourning after terror attacks
French President Francois Hollande called Thursday a "day of mourning" for his homeland, as the country remains in shock after 12 people were killed by hooded gunmen at the Paris offices of satire magazine Charlie Hebdo. The publication, whose barbs are aimed at a wide range of religious and political institutions, has been heavily criticized by Muslims for years. In 2011 its offices were firebombed after a spoof issue featured a caricature of the prophet Mohammed on its cover.
2. Own a little bit of Elvis – on his birthday
Graceland, the mansion nearly as famous as its one-time owner, is hosting a major auction of Elvis Presley memorabilia. The event, which includes Presley's first driver's license and a signed copy of his first single for Sun Records, commemorates the rock 'n' roll icon's 80th birthday. If you're not interested in buying his personal items, grill yourself a peanut-butter-and-banana sandwich and get busy reliving some of his music and movies with these suggestions.

3. Are you cold? Well, you will be
Bundle up! No, seriously, you'll need it. By Thursday morning, the National Weather Service predicts that 87.2% of the country will see below-freezing temperatures. Schools in Chicago, Boston and a number of other areas called off classes Wednesday evening in preparation for the frigid temps.

4. Wonder Woman's back to save the day
Grab your Lasso of Truth. DC Comics' digital-first series Wonder Woman '77 premieres on Thursday and is inspired by the classic TV take on the comic-book Amazon Princess and her alter ego, government agent Diana Prince. Chapters will be available for download weekly on the DC Comics app and a variety of digital platforms.

5. President Obama continues pre-State of the Union tour
During a Thursday visit to a school in Phoenix, Obama "will announce a new executive action that will help more responsible Americans own a home, building on efforts already underway to cut red tape that holds them back," senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer writes on the White House website.
