1. World's oldest person turns 117
O-tanjoubi omedetou gozaimasu! That's happy birthday in Japanese, and for Misao Okawa, who was born on March 5 in 1898, it's her 117th. The world's oldest currently living person, who also is the fifth-oldest ever reliably recorded, lives at an old people's community in Osaka. Okawa is one of five people still living – three of them Americans – who were born in the 1800s.
2. Winter Storm Thor continue-th
No, there's no Avenger here, just a wintry mess of snow and sleet that's hammering parts of the South, Midwest and Northeast into Thursday. The storm could bring accumulations up to 12 inches in some spots with upwards of 2,015 flights for Thursday already cancelled as of Wednesday evening.
3. Could legal marijuana in Colorado go up in smoke?
Sheriffs from Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska say Colorado's marijuana law violates the Constitution and want a federal court to strike it down. A lawsuit, filed Thursday against Colo. Gov. John Hickenlooper, seeks to close the state's more than 330 licensed marijuana stores. The out-of-state sheriffs say the flow of Colorado's legal marijuana across the border has increasing drug arrests, overburdened police and courts and cost them money in overtime.

4. 'American Crime' opens dialogue on race and class
In ABC's poignant new series American Crime, which makes its television debut Thursday night, a home-invasion murder shatters the lives of all involved, asking questions about race, class and religion in modern America. Oscar-winner John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) created the series and directed the first episode, with Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton and Regina King starring. TV critic Robert Bianco gave it **** out of four stars, noting Ridley's jarring directorial style and the grittiness of its characters.

5. What does a millionaire-in-the-making look like?
Up-and-coming millionaires look a little bit different than those who've already broke the bank with their millions, a new study by Bellomy Research for Fidelity Investments finds on Thursday. The millionaires-in-the-making include more women and minorities than today's millionaires. Around 68% of the emerging affluent investors are women, 25% are non-white – a 16% increase from current millionaires – and the average age has shrunk from 62 to 40.
