[h=2]Deaf swimmer competes to qualify for Rio[/h]Marcus Titus, who has been deaf since birth, will compete*in Tuesday’s final of the 100-meter breaststroke at the U.S. swimming trials in hopes of qualifying for his first Olympics. Titus, 30, would*head*to Rio if he finishes in the top two. He hopes his success will motivate younger athletes, sending the message, “If I can do it, they can do it too,” Titus said.*This is Titus' third Olympic trials, and perhaps his last chance to fulfill the*ultimate goal of making the Olympic team.

[h=2]Congress still can't agree on a bill to fight Zika[/h]More than four months after President Obama first called on Congress to pass $1.9 billion to fight the mosquito-borne Zika virus that threatens the continental U.S. this summer, the Senate is expected to vote Tuesday on a deal passed last week by the House — except the bill is unlikely to pass. Both Republicans and Democrats say they want to fund programs to eradicate mosquitoes, develop vaccines and protect pregnant women from the risk of having babies with severe birth defects, but the Zika money has become mired in controversial issues ranging from the Confederate flag and pesticide regulations to birth control and Obamacare.

In the first phase of the donation to*Raliance*—*the coalition between the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault and the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence*— 27 grants worth $50,000 each will be awarded to a variety of organizations across the USA. The NFL first met with the NSVRC in 2014 amid heavy criticism for its handling of domestic violence incidents involving Ray Rice and Greg Hardy. The coalition hopes to provide the money local and national organizations need for victim services, education, research and prevention.
