[h=2]Will USA favorites claim the gold on Day 4?[/h]All eyes will be on the Team USA favorites on Day 4 as they aim to take the gold at the Rio Olympics. Simone Biles, the only gymnast to compete in all four events Tuesday, is poised to win the all-around and multiple event titles. Swimmers Katie Ladecky and Michael Phelps will be under the spotlight as they compete in the 200-meter freestyle and 200-meter butterfly, respectively. Ladecky won the gold for the 400-meter freestyle Sunday night when she beat her own record, and she also holds the world record for the 800-meter and 1,500-meter freestyles.*Phelps*qualified second*behind Hungary's Tamas Kenderesi for Tuesday night's 200 fly final, but if he wins he would receive gold medal No. 20.? Other highlights Tuesday include the women’s soccer game, where USA will face off against Colombia, and the men’s rugby game, where USA competes against Argentina. Here's everything you need to know about Tuesday's events, which are broadcast across multiple NBC networks.

[h=2]Trump brings national attention to Ryan's primary challenge[/h]House Speaker*Paul Ryan faces a long-shot opponent, Paul Nehlen, in Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District primary Tuesday. Although only 8% of voting age adults voted in the last primary, this race has received national attention thanks to Donald Trump’s short-lived intervention in Wisconsin politics. Trump briefly withheld his endorsement of Ryan last week, leaving the GOP looking more divided than ever. But after days of intense criticism from GOP officials and a plummet in poll numbers, Trump announced his support for Ryan during a campaign stop in Green Bay, Wis. Trump's endorsement, though a small win for Ryan, might come too late to fully undo the damage to the party in Wisconsin.

[h=2]Second anniversary of Michael Brown shooting[/h]Two years ago Tuesday in Ferguson, Mo., white police officer Darren Wilson shot and killed Michael Brown,*an unarmed black man, setting off massive protests in the predominantly black city. After a grand jury decided not to indict Wilson, the protests spread nationwide, often under the slogan "Black Lives Matter."*In the two years since, an*intense public debate has simmered*over police*treatment of minorities, with many departments beginning to use body cameras to record officers' actions. But black men have continued to die*at the hands of police, including Alton Sterling*in Baton Rouge*and Philando Castile*in Falcon Heights, Minn., on successive days in July. Shortly thereafter, five police officers in Dallas and three in Baton Rouge were slain in*ambushes by black men apparently seeking vengeance.

[h=2]Turkey’s president heads to Russia to rebuild relations[/h]Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan heads to Russia*on Tuesday for talks with President Vladimir Putin as part of efforts to rebuild relations shattered by Turkey’s downing of a Russian warplane last year. The meeting comes as Turkey’s relations with traditional allies the U.S. and Europe show increasing strain*because of Erdogan’s crackdown following a failed coup. This will be Erdogan’s first foreign trip since the failed coup July 15, which left more than 270 people dead. Both Turkey and Russia have been hurt by their roughly seven-month rupture in relations, so both leaders are interested in mending the rift and reviving economic and trade ties.

[h=2]Rod Blagojevich attempts to*reduce 14-year-prison sentence[/h]Disgraced former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich will try to persuade a federal judge on Tuesday to reduce his 14-year-prison sentence*— more than four years after the politician was convicted for his attempt to sell President Obama’s old senate seat and other corruption charges. Blagojevich won a chance at resentencing after an appellate court wiped out five of the 18 charges against him. The ex-governor, who is serving his sentence at a federal prison in Colorado,*will appear at the hearing via video conference and will ask for a five-year sentence that could quickly make him a free man.
