Also known as the Festival of Lights, the eight-day Jewish holiday commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem following a revolt that overthrew the ruling Seleucid Empire in the 2nd century BC. The White House is marking the holiday Wednesday with a ceremony conducted by Rabbi Angela Buchdahl, who leads New York City's Central Synagogue and has the distinction of being the first Asian American ordained as a rabbi. Rock on! Hall of Fame announces latest inductees
Right call or a tale of travesty? Music fans no doubt will be squealing in both instances as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announces who'll be inducted into its pantheon of heroes (guitar and otherwise). What the Hall describes as "an international voting body of more than 600 artists, historians and members of the music industry" will make the decision on the five principal honorees, with a small nod from fans, who got to vote in an online ballot. The induction ceremony will be held in Cleveland on April 18.

Rare 'double eagle' gold coin auctioned
Remember when the U.S. had $20 coins? We don't either, but that was a thing. A rare 1907 double eagle $20 coin could sell for as much as $1.5 million at auction at Bonhams on Tuesday. What makes this coin so special? The font is sans serif, and some lettering is upside down. Also, there's a possibility President Theodore Roosevelt, who commissioned the design, may have handled the coin.

Arizona county may ban hiring smokers
Pima County, Ariz., may not hire smokers anymore. The Board of Supervisors will vote Tuesday whether they should stop hiring smokers and stick current employees who smoke with a 30% health care surcharge beginning in January. The county estimates it will save more than $13 million a year in tobacco-related expenses if the vote passes, according to a county memo.
