1. All-day breakfast at McDonald's is here
Hashbrown + Big Mac? Sure, you can do that. Beginning Tuesday, McDonald's will roll out an all-day breakfast menu, which includes a lot, but not all, of their morning breakfast items. But there's a possible consequence to this otherwise happy news: some of the non-breakfast menu items will be cut for operational reasons (it all comes down to space and time). Just what gets cut will vary market-to-market.

3. The end of the rain is just the beginning of South Carolina's recovery
Sunshine is expected in South Carolina on Tuesday after days of historic rains that brought catastrophic flooding and killed at least 10 people. But with*the end of the rain South Carolina must begin to deal with the destruction left in the water's wake.*There are roads that have entire chunks missing, cars that floated and settled into the middle of some streets, trees that toppled onto homes and bridges that have disappeared, to name just some of the problems facing the state.*"This is not over. Just because the rain stops does not mean that we are out of the woods," Gov. Nikki Haley said.

5. MLB playoffs begin with a fairy tale*
Tuesday's away game is actually the perfect setting for the Houston Astro's Cinderella story. The Astros have an opportunity to defeat the mighty New York Yankees at home when they open Major League Baseball's*playoff season with their first appearance in 10 years. "Hopefully, they'll be making a movie about this one day," says Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow. For the Yankees, this is their*first playoff appearance without the now-retired Derek Jeter. They're also down CC Sabathia, who announced Monday he's entering rehab for alcoholism. It's impossible to predict what will happen, but we're betting on some*reckless and incalculable randomness.

Sept. 25: Confusion, yes. Champagne, no. The Toronto Blue Jays ended baseball's longest playoff drought without even knowing about it. Toronto enters play believing it could clinch a wild card by beating the Tampa Bay Rays, and with losses by Minnesota and the Los Angeles Angels. Not long after the Blue Jays beat the Rays 5-3, Minnesota lost 6-4 at Detroit. But when the Angels defeated Seattle 8-4, it looked as if Toronto would need one more victory Saturday to halt its 22-year postseason absence. It turns out, however, that because of the remaining schedules of the Rangers, Astros and Angels, the Blue Jays had clinched at least a wild-card spot, no matter what.* Peter Llewellyn, USA TODAY Sports
