World reacts to North Korea hydrogen bomb claim
The United Nations Security Council scheduled an emergency meeting Wednesday in response to North Korea's announcement that it*conducted a successful hydrogen bomb test. If the North's claim is confirmed, there will be calls for new, tougher sanctions against the regime of Kim Jong Un. A successful test*would be a*disturbing development for the United States and its allies*because*a*hydrogen bomb is more powerful than a traditional fission bomb, and if the North's claim*is confirmed,*it would indicate intelligence reports underestimated the sophistication of the secretive nation's nuclear program.

Men and women pump their fists in the air and chant "defend!" as they carry propaganda slogans calling for reunification of their country during the "Pyongyang Mass Rally on the Day of the Struggle Against the U.S.," attended by approximately 100,000 North Koreans to mark the 65th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War at the Kim Il Sung stadium, Thursday, June 25, 2015, in Pyongyang, North Korea. The month of June in North Korea is known as the "Struggle Against U.S. Imperialism Month" and it's a time for North Koreans to swarm to war museums, mobilize for gatherings denouncing the evils of the United States and join in a general, nationwide whipping up of the anti-American sentiment.* Wong Maye-E, AP

Griffey Jr. can relax as MLB players await call from Hall of Fame?
With more than a dozen qualified candidates, just 10 slots available and the ever-present cloud of performance-enhancing drug use complicating the process, this year's baseball Hall of Fame ballot sparks significant debate. This much we know: Wednesday will be a slam-dunk celebration for Ken Griffey Jr., a unanimous pick in multiple polls that show he has a chance to break the all-time vote percentage mark of 98.84 (set by Tom Seaver in 1992). For others —*including Mike Piazza, Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, Trevor Hoffman —*it will be nervous time. Someone could win $450 million
The Powerball jackpot has risen to an estimated $450 million, and the winning numbers will be drawn at 11:59 p.m. ET Wednesday. You've got a 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning. If you like those odds, you can buy a ticket for $2 anywhere in the U.S. except Nevada, Utah, Mississippi, Alabama, Alaska and Hawaii. If you win, there are a lot of things you shouldn't do — like, don't tell everyone you know. But don't worry, there's lots you can do — you're a millionaire, after all.

American Idol takes its final bow
For an unprecedented eight straight seasons —*from 2003-04 to 2010-11 —*it was the most-watched show on TV. But then American Idol, which launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert, Jennifer Hudson and many more, did what many idols do. It faded. And now it is fading away. With a shorter schedule ending in April, the 15th and final season, which begins Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox, will mix Idol's past and present, starting with prior winners and stars — Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, Taylor Hicks, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze and Nick Fradiani — advising singers at early auditions. What advice did they have for surprise auditioner Kanye West? You can see his effort here. Also, expected to drop by during the season are the original three judges — Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. Rock on!
