ASBURY PARK, N.J. — There's unexpected mail and then there's this.
Hazlet Township Police announced Thursday morning that — thanks to a wary homeowner — officers had intercepted a 50-pound shipment of professionally-packed marijuana on Tuesday.
"If you were expecting these packages and would like to claim them, please come to Police Headquarters," police said in Facebook post on Oct. 22.
A Hazlet resident called police on Tuesday after receiving boxes of marijuana. The packages of marijuana were addressed to a person who did not live at the home, according to Hazlet Detective Lt. Ted Wittke.
"Whoever packaged these definitely took quite a bit of time and energy to mask anything that was detectable," Wittke said.
