ENGLEWOOD, Fla. --- U.S. Coast Guard officials continue to search<span style="color: Red;">*</span>off the coast of Florida for a sailboat carrying a<span style="color: Red;">*</span>father and his three teenage children, who were last heard from on Sunday, officials said Wednesday.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>
The Coast Guard in St. Petersburg were contacted by a concerned family member after Ace Kimberly, 45,<span style="color: Red;">*</span>called his brother around 3 p.m. on Sunday<span style="color: Red;">*</span>to report 6-foot seas. Kimberly said that<span style="color: Red;">*</span>he was "attempting to survive with his children" offshore of<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Englewood, Fla., according to the Coast Guard.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>
Kimberly<span style="color: Red;">*</span>and his teenage children,<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Roger Kimberly, 13, Donny Kimberly, 15, and Rebecca Kimberly, 17, were aboard the missing 29-foot sailboat, which left Sarasota at 7 a.m. Sunday, bound for Fort Myers, Fla., according to the Coast Guard.
On Wednesday afternoon, Coast guard officials tweeted that an aircrew spotted<span style="color: Red;">*</span>six<span style="color: Red;">*</span>life jackets and a boat crew located a green kayak, believed to belong to the missing family, but officials said they did not seen any signs of the Kimberleys.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Ashley<span style="color: Red;">*</span>J. Johnson said<span style="color: Red;">*</span>the<span style="color: Red;">*</span>U.S. Coast Guard<span style="color: Red;">*</span>has launched a HC-130 Hercules airplane from Clearwater, Fla., and several vessels<span style="color: Red;">*</span>from Stations Cortez and<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Fort Myers<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Beach. Officials also<span style="color: Red;">*</span>activated a<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Maritime<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Emergency Response Team out of Fort Myers Beach.
The Coast Guard asks mariners to keep a sharp lookout and contact Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg at 727-824-7506 with any information regarding the whereabouts of the missing family.
