[h=2]Two horses die in early Preakness day races[/h]In the first four races at Pimlico on Preakness Day Saturday, two horses died. Maryland-bred Homeboykris, a 2010 Kentucky Derby entrant, suffered an apparent heart attack after winning the day’s first race. Three races later, Pramedya, a 4-year-old filly, broke down in the final turn with a broken bone in her left front leg and was euthanized on the track. Her jockey, Daniel Centeno, was thrown from the horse and taken to a nearby hospital with what was believed to be a broken collarbone.

[h=2]U.S. drone strike leaves void in Taliban leadership[/h]The Afghan government*confirmed Sunday*that Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansoor was killed in a U.S. drone strike, a blow to the militant group's 15-year struggle to regain control of the embattled nation. The strike took place in a remote area of Pakistan along the Afghan border. Mansoor's death may not significantly alter the course of the war, but it will come as good news to many Afghans, some experts say.

[h=2]Submarine joins search for EgyptAir wreckage[/h]Egypt was sending a submarine to help search for wreckage of EgyptAir Flight 804, including the plane's voice and data recorders, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced Sunday. The recorders are crucial for Egyptian and French investigators because the data recorder will describe how the Airbus A320 was operating, and the voice recorder will have what the pilots were saying before Thursday's crash with 66 people on board.

[h=2]Clinton: Unlike Trump, I won't pander to gun lobby[/h]Hillary Clinton slammed Donald Trump and the National Rifle Association Saturday, telling a room full of mothers who have lost their children to gun violence that she won't cater to the gun lobby. The Democratic presidential front-runner, who spoke at a Trayvon Martin Foundation’s Circle of Mothers event in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., said a vote for Trump is a vote for an America rife with fear, anger and violence. She mentioned Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis, two unarmed black teens shot dead by white civilians. "Unlike Donald Trump, I will not pander to the gun lobby," she said. "We will not be silenced and we will not be intimidated."
