An abruptly*canceled wedding in Sacramento, Calif., ended up provided an opportunity for one family to give the*city's homeless population a fantastic meal.
When the groom-to-be called off the wedding, deposits for the $35,000 event had already been paid, KCRA-TV reports. So, the bride's family decided to open the wedding's banquet hall to homeless people on Saturday.
"When I found out on Monday that the wedding would not be taking place, it just seemed like, of course, this would be something that we would do to give back," Kari Duane told KCRA-TV. *There were supposed to be over 100 quests in attendance at the affair.
On the menu were editions from the Citizen Hotel's four-star restaurant, including gnocchi, salmon and tri-tip, according to KCRA-TV.
As far as the non-refundable honeymoon, mom Kari and daughter Quinn headed off to Belize.
"I feel a lot of heartache and heartbreak for her, but I will take away something good from this, I will," Kari Duane told KCRA.
