Four weeks ago, shooting suspect Dylann Roof posted a Facebook photo of himself standing in some woods, scowling at the camera and wearing a lightweight black jacket bearing patches of the flags of apartheid South Africa and Rhodesia, a formerly white-ruled African country now called Zimbabwe.
Roof posted the photo a few days before a South Carolina judge found him guilty of trespassing and ordered him to pay a $262 fine.
Police arrested Roof Thursday morning around 11:30 a.m. during a traffic stop in Shelby, N.C.

Charleston authorities have arrested 21-year-old Dylann Roof in connection with the killing of nine people at Emmanuel AME church. Roof was arrested during a traffic stop in Shelby, North Carolina. WLTX
When Roof was arrested on the trespassing charge on April 26, he gave his address as a three-bedroom house in rural Eastover, S.C., on 1.3 acres about 20 miles east of the state capital Columbia.
"This is kind of the poor side of town – we're not wealthy over here," said a Facebook friend who knew Roof who attended the same high school as Roof.
At White Knoll High School, Roof "hung out with the weird people," the classmate, who asked not to be named, said. Roof adopted a "goth" style, wearing black clothing and black make-up, the former student said.
Roof left White Knoll in 2010 in the middle of ninth grade, which he had been forced to repeat, the school said.
Despite Roof's apparent racist motivations, photographs of 21 of his 80 Facebook friends are of black people who appear to be his age.
