The Coast Guard was searching Sunday for a Texas man who disappeared from the deck of a Royal Caribbean cruise ship off the coast of Key West.
The Coast Guard said in a statement it*received a report from the crew aboard the Navigator of the Seas early Saturday that David*Mossman fell approximately 100 feet from the 10th deck of the cruise ship into the water about 40*miles south of Key Largo's Carysfort Reef Light.
"An "urgent" marine broadcast was issued and the Coast Guard Cutter Gannet was launched to begin the search for Mossman, 46. A Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 helicopter and a HC-144 plane also joined the search.
As of Sunday morning, the search had covered more than 2,200 square miles.
The Navigator of the Seas holds a maximum of more than 3,800 passengers and more than 1,200 crew members. Its website boasts that was the first ship to debut "virtual balconies" that provide the "sights and sounds of the sea with expansive real-time views of the ocean and our exciting destinations ... from the comforts of your interior stateroom."
