LAKEVIEW, Texas — A bizarre months-long standoff in an upscale Texas subdivision is finally over.
Sharafat Khan, 69, had been camped out in his own front yard in Taylor Lake Shores since his wife kicked him out of the house about five months ago.
Lakeview Police said in the last six months they had been to the upscale home as many as 30 times because of a series of arguments. Khan said his 61-year-old wife, Shahnaz Khan, kicked him out, changed the locks and demanded police remove him from her property.
Police couldn't remove him because the property is deeded in both of their names.

Sharafat Khan said he wasn't going to leave the property until his wife changed her mind about divorcing him.
This week, Khan's wife, a doctor, finally got a judge to sign off on the divorce she requested five months ago, police said. The judge also declared the wife the sole owner of the million-dollar home.
During the standoff, Khan, who suffers from a variety of medical problems, had been in and out of hospitals.
"I'm really weak, but otherwise OK," he said Tuesday.
Neighbors would bring him food even after his wife placed a sign on the door asking people not to feed him.
Police couldn't force the Pakistan native to leave because the house was technically his too.
"My emotions are with this house. I could live on the floor over there," he said Tuesday, admitting he has had offers from friends and could afford to stay in a hotel if he chose to. "But I'm on my own property."
Not anymore.
With the judge's order, police had the legal authority to force Khan to leave. He did so willingly, calling for a taxi to take him to an undisclosed location.
Harris County Criminal Court records show that Khan was arrested for domestic violence in 2008 and civil court records show his wife received a protective order in December 2014 and that she filed for divorce in June. She also had asked for multiple restraining orders.
