TALLAHASSEE*— The holders of one of three winning Powerball tickets from the historic prize drawing were identified Wednesday as a Florida couple who accepted the check*as*The Nickel 95 Trust at Florida Lottery headquarters.
A winning ticket in the Jan. 13 drawing with a grand prize of nearly $1.6 billion was sold at a Melbourne Beach, Fla., Publix Supermarket. The other two winning tickets were purchased in Chino Hills,*Calif., and Mumford, Tenn.
David Kaltschmidt, 55, and Mauren Smith, 70, claimed their winnings Wednesday.*The Melbourne Beach couple has played the winning numbers for about 30 years, but not regularly.
The winning numbers were 4-8-19-27-34 and Powerball 10.
When asked if they knew what they were going to do with the money, Smith simply stated "no" to laughs.
"Of course we're going to take care of the family and we have a lot to think about," she said. "It's very stressful, it's new and we really don't know. We'll have to think about it.
They don't have any immediate plans for the money, except maybe purchasing a new truck for Kaltschmidt. Kaltschmidt, who has worked for Northrup Grumman for 34 years, will retire. Smith is a homemaker.
They took the money in a lump sum payment of $327 million.
Since realizing they won, they lost a lot of sleep, Smith said.
"I lost 10 pounds," said Kaltschmidt.
They didn't tell anyone they were one of the three Powerball winners.
"We just kept quiet," Smith said, just sought legal advice.
They didn't tell relatives until last week. They declined to say whether they had children.
Now that they've been identified, Smith is "afraid it'll make me less friendly."

Florida's giant Powerball jackpot still unclaimed
The Tennessee winners claimed their part of the prize two days after the drawing*— after announcing it on the Today show. The California winner*has*yet to claim their winnings.
John and Lisa Robinson*of Munford, Tenn., took the lump sum*and will pocket*a little more than $327 million before taxes, Tennessee Lottery officials said.
Winners in Florida have*180 days to claim their prize if they choose to receive their payments in increments or 60 days if they choose the lump sum option.
In either scenario, the winners, by state law, must be publicly revealed.
