Happy Saturday, For the Record friends!*Our West Coast counterparts may be laughing, but we East Coasters are hunkered down as #Snowzilla passes through, watching snow swirl outside our windows and bemoaning the shoveling to come. It’s been snowing for 16+ hours now. It’s supposed to snow through tomorrow. Has it really been only one*month since we were wondering what to do with a nearly 70-degree Christmas?
Before we start our trek to the North Mountain to convince whoever conjured up this storm to bring back warmer days, let’s recap the big moments of the week.

The Democrats spent their Sunday evening of a holiday weekend debating their little hearts out. The strategy seemed to work out for them, because the debate drew 10.2 million viewers,*the most since October. Hooray relevancy! Sunday’s event showed just how cold it’s gotten*between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. The two battled it out over their stances on guns, health care, Wall Street regulation and campaign finance. Oh, and Martin O’Malley was also there,*doing his best Olaf impression.

Sarah Palin reappeared this week to spread the love to one Mr. Donald Trump.*She endorsed the Donald*because they probably finish each other's sandwiches.*The speech was loaded with classic Palin-isms: “drill, baby, drill”; “pussy-footing”; “hopey, changey stuff”; and “Joe Six Packs.” If this whole president thing doesn’t work out for Trump, he and Palin should get into the business of coining catchphrases.
[h=2]REINDEERS ARE BETTER THAN PEOPLE...[/h]

At least when those people are named “Ted Cruz.” It seemed that no one was on the #TeamCruz bus this week. No, really:*Rand Paul made a cartoon poking at Cruz’s loan situation,*Donald Trump said Cruz was worse than Hillary Clinton,*Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad has no desire to see Cruz win in his state’s caucuses*and*Lindsey Graham said Cruz threw Republicans under the bus with the 2013 federal government shutdown. Of course, Graham also said*picking between Cruz and Trump was like picking between “being shot or poisoned,”*so at least Cruz knows he’s got some company.

John Kasich’s making a comeback! Sort of. This week,*he placed*sixth in USA TODAY’s GOP Power Rankings, which is the highest he’s ever been since the survey of political experts began. Now, No. 6 doesn’t sound that high, but it does mean he could make more headway*in New Hampshire. One expert says Kasich’s now the “positive alternative” to Jeb(!) Bush/Chris Christie/Marco Rubio.* Is the Ohio governor’s second wind coming?
OK, friends, we’re going to use the next couple days to wrap ourselves in blankets and drink hot toddies and*belt our best renditions of “Let It Go.”*Enjoy your weekend!
See you Monday morning in your inboxes, snow or not,
Jessica,*Brett*and*Joanna
