[h=2]Grab the toilet paper, an epic blizzard is coming East[/h]We're not sure the state of your pantry, but*a huge nor'easter or blizzard or just a lot of snow (depending on where you live) is forecast to cripple*the South, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast beginning Friday, likely halting road and*air travel*and causing widespread power outages.*A few things: 1) The Weather Channel wants*us to call the storm Jonas. Yes, really.*2) Cable news is rotating through ominous weather modifiers. 3) Grocery stores are filled with people who have never shopped for groceries before,*and oh my god the lines. 4) It's become*apparent who will not be able to handle the weather.*We're looking at you, D.C.*region.
[h=2]You can stop freaking out about your 401(k)*[/h]Phew! Stocks’ scary ride is over! (Until tomorrow maybe?) Wall Street investors had a*good day Thursday, gathering their collective breath after Wednesday’s drama — a 565-point plunge, then a bungee-cord bounce to recoup half those losses.*The Dow ended*Thursday higher, by 116 *points. Stocks got a boost from such factors as the European Central Bank saying it will review its monetary policy stance plus oil prices finding a floor (for now?) and climbing about 5%.
[h=2]Putin 'probably' ordered ex-spy's murder by poison[/h]You remember*Alexander*Litvinenko. The former KGB agent and expert in organized crime*defected to Britain in 2001 and was highly critical of Russian intelligence services and President Vladimir*Putin. He died after*drinking*tea laced with*polonium-210, a highly toxic*radioactive material. Welp. (That was in 2006.) Fast-forward to Thursday, and a formal British inquiry into Litvinenko's murder found the killing was*"probably" approved personally by*Putin.**Two suspects,*Russian agents*Andrei Lugovoi and Dmitry Kovtun, are said to have given him the tea, and Britain says it*will freeze their assets.
[h=2]There is one power couple you won't see at the Oscars this year[/h]Will and Jada are sitting this ceremony out. Jada Pinkett Smith earlier this week called for a boycott of the Academy Awards over diversity concerns, and now her husband Will Smith said he's following her lead. Why are they upset? No actors or actresses of color were nominated in acting categories this year. That would be #OscarsSoWhite. Will Smith starred in last year's Concussion, and some critics predicted he'd nab an Oscar nomination. Spike Lee is also skipping this year's*awards.
[h=2]#MustRead: FBI operates online porn website 'Playpen'*[/h]For two weeks last year, the FBI operated one of the Internet’s largest child pornography websites to catch users who officials said would otherwise remain hidden behind an encrypted and anonymous computer network. It's a significant departure from the government’s past tactics for battling online child porn, where agents were told not to allow images of children being sexually assaulted to become public. More than 100,000 users visited the Playpen*site while it was under the FBI’s control.
