Hobbes the stuffed tiger had an adventure recently when his owner, 6-year-old Owen Lake, forgot him at the airport.
Tampa International Airport staff took Hobbes around the facility photographing his travels in early June. They eventually put the images into a book that they gave Owen when the boy returned home and was reunited with the toy.
"We went to the hire station, we went to the Marriott and we went to where the baggage was being loaded onto a Southwest airline plane," Tony D'Aiuto, the operations manager at Tampa International Airport, told USA TODAY Network. D'Aiuto spearheaded the photo series.
D'Aiuto said the family reported the missing toy tiger immediately after they boarded a flight, but were not able to leave the plane to retrieve it. D'Aiuto told the family he would keep Hobbes in the airport's lost-and-found until they could return home for it a few days later.
D'Aiuto, inspired by the traveling gnome in the film Amelie and a story he had read a few months prior about a lost stuffed tiger at Hughenden Manor in England, decided to sweeten the child's reunion with his toy by showing Hobbes around the airport.
"(They) inspired me to bring some of that magic to our office," he said.

D'Aiuto was not in the office when Owen returned to Tampa, Fla., but staff told him Owen looked happy to be reunited with Hobbes.
"It was very, very sweet," Owen's mother Amanda Lake told ABC News in an interview about the photo series. "We already told him over and over that Hobbes was on an adventure so it was nice to get back and show him that Hobbes really had been on an adventure."
