How do you archive sub-forums on a vBulletin Forum?

We have a group of sub-forums that are now closed to posting. Can they be archived/removed from the main Forum without affecting members thread and post counts? If 'yes', how does one do it?

Go into ACP and go: Usergroups>Forum Permissions then check "Deny All" for all the forums or subforums you want to hide. This will preserve all post count but this content can no longer be seen by anyone, until you go back in and make them appear again.
