BOULDER, Colo. —*Four low-polling Republican candidates met*again Wednesday*in Boulder, Colo., for the third "happy hour" debate.
South Carolina*Sen. Lindsey Graham, Louisiana Gov.*Bobby Jindal, former New York governor*George Pataki*and former Pennsylvania senator*Rick Santorum took*the stage at 6 p.m. ET, two hours before the main event featuring*the top tier of candidates.
We live blogged all of the action here as the quartet of long-shot candidates tried to gain*traction in the GOP race. Here are some highlights.*All times are eastern.
7:09 p.m.: Final statements.
Graham again cites national defense credentials. Also knocks Donald Trump's slogan "Make America Great*Again." — the U.S. is already great, he says.
Pataki describes himself as a "limited government conservative."
Santorum says he is a committed conservative with a record.
Jindal warns against the prospect of a Hillary Clinton presidency, saying she would lead the country down the road to socialism.*"We can save the idea of America before it's too late," he says.
7:04 p.m.:*Ah, the lightning round! Asked about apps,*Jindal acknowledges he doesn't use an iPhone. Pataki praises Uber. Graham, who noted he got an iPhone after Donald Trump gave out the number of his old flip phone, cites*Fox News.
Super Bowl? Candidates stick up for home teams: Jindal, Saints; Santorum, Steelers; Pataki, Jets (and the Mets will win the World Series)*Graham:*"I want to win New Hampshire: Go, Tom Brady, Go Patriots!"
7:01 p.m.: Jindal tosses in his support of some*non-economic issues: Gun rights and "religious liberty."
6:58 p.m.: *Graham says he will save Social Security — also plays up to the Coors crowd by noting that his father*owned a bar. "If you're looking for good beer policy, I'm your best bet," Graham says.
6:57*p.m.:*Santorum lumps Jindal with Donald Trump over deficit reduction plans, saying theirs will discourage economic growth and his will. Jindal defends his record of cutting taxes and government.
6:54*p.m.: Pataki goes against the Republican grain, saying the party should take climate change more seriously. As opponents shake their heads, Pataki says the government should encourage energy innovation that could reduce pollution.
6:50*p.m.: An antitrust*question that cites a*local product — Coors beer — draws big applause. Santorum, who says he does drink Coors,*praises the brewery industry — and reminds the crowd that he won Colorado during the GOP nomination contest four years ago.
6:45 p.m.:*Santorum describes what a "true conservative" should do, including creation of a "level playing field" for the economy — particularly when it comes to international competitors.
6:43 p.m.:*Pataki complains about the slow pace of economic recovery under President Obama.
6:41*p.m.: What about companies that go overseas to save on taxes? Graham says the U.S. should create a better tax environment for both businesses and their customers. "We need to lower it so they don't leave," Graham says. He also repeats that national defense is the top priority — and resists moderators' efforts to cut him off.
6:35 p.m.: Santorum knocks Graham about wanting to "solve problems," saying current U.S. immigration policies are undercutting middle class. The two candidates mix it up over the issue, as Graham argues the need for comprehensive immigration reform.
6:30 p.m.: Graham looks to maintain his advantage when it comes to one-liners; he says Democratic candidate*Bernie Sanders — a self-described Democratic socialist —*"went to the Soviet Union on his honeymoon, and I don't think he ever came back."
6:29**p.m.: Graham is asked about immigration and climate change, issues on which he disagrees with many Republicans. Graham says he wants to "solve problems" and would address immigration and climate change without damaging the economy. An emotional Graham also says his approach will help GOP win elections, and*"I am tired of losing."
6:27 p.m.: Oops:*Jindal refers to "death penalty;" we suspect he meant to say "death tax," which he would get rid of.
6:25 p.m.: Santorum says the U.S. should be more concerned with making its manufacturing more competitive with other nations than with addressing pollution or climate change. The former Pennsylvania senator says high taxes and regulations are stifling American manufacturing.
6:23*p.m.: A question about alleged hacking by North Korea and China.*Pataki says we don't need a "military response," but do need a "coordinated response" that includes economic penalties on offenders. Graham takes a poke at President Obama, saying rival nations have*"walked all over" the U.S. on his watch. "Make me commander*in*chief and this crap stops," Graham says.
6:18*p.m.: Graham breaks with opponents in supporting the new budget deal, saying it assures the military's ability to meet "the threat to our homeland." Jindal says that, once again, conservatives have agreed to a bill that increases federal spending, and again cites his record in Louisiana.*Pataki also calls*it a "bad deal," but says*he would have signed it because of the defense budget.
6:10*p.m.:*Finally, the first question: How would*being a part of the system help you govern? Jindal talks about cutting government in Louisiana. Santorum says he's actually worked to promote conservative causes in the federal government.*Pataki says he IS an outsider, but also has experience as governor of New York. Graham says he has experience dealing with national security.
6:05*p.m.: Now CNBC broadcasts*its heavily produced intro.
5:50 p.m.:*Good afternoon ...*Welcome to the "happy hour"*debate with the long shot Republican candidates.
