A magnitude 7.4 earthquake has been recorded near the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu, weeks after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake devastated the Himalayan country.
The quake struck Tuesday 52 miles from Kathmandu and 14 miles from the Chinese city of Zham, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
People in Kathmandu rushed onto the streets as the quake hit but there were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries. People in parts of northern India also reported feeling the tremor.
It was also not immediately clear how much additional damage has been caused.
The quake on April 25 destroyed thousands of homes in Nepal and over 8,000 people lost their lives.
Save the Children said its teams on the ground were assessing the impact of the second quake on already damaged buildings.
"It's a terrifying time for the hundreds of thousands of children and families who lost everything in the 25 April quake," the charity said.
