Mitt Romney slammed President Obama’s State of the Union Address as a “disappointing” partisan diatribe that ignored Republican victories in the 2014 elections.
The 2012 GOP presidential nominee, who is considering another White House bid, posted a short statement on Facebook as Obama was leaving the House chamber after his remarks Tuesday night.
“True to form, the president in his State of the Union speech is more interested in politics than in leadership,” Romney said. “More*intent on winning elections than on winning progress, he ignores the fact that the country has elected a Congress that favors smaller government and lower taxes.”
Romney took specific aim at Obama’s tax proposal, calling it a “maze of*new taxes and complexities.” The former Massachusetts governor called for lower rates and a simpler tax code.
