The District Attorney for Clinton County, NY said David Sweat, the surviving inmate who escaped prison and eluded police for weeks is opening up about how they did it.

David Sweat, one of two killers who eluded capture for three weeks after escaping a maximum security prison in New York last month, was released from a hospital Sunday and returned to prison, authorities said.
Sweat, 35, was released from Albany Medical Center and sent to the Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus, the state Corrections Department said in a statement.
Sweat, who will be placed on suicide watch, fled the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, N.Y., on June 6. He and escapee Richard Matt, 49, eluded capture in the deep forests of Northern New York State for three weeks.
Five Points, also a maximum security prison, is more than 250 miles from Clinton.
The department declined to reveal details about Sweat's transportation from the hospital to Five Points. Sweat will remain in the prison infirmary for 24 hours for medical evaluation, the statement said.
Following his discharge from the infirmary, Sweat will be housed in the Five Points Special Housing Unit in a single cell within the facility's 150-bed, 23-hour confinement unit. His cell will include a bed, writing table, toilet, sink, and a facility-controlled shower which the department said will limit movement.

Matt, 49, was fatally shot by U.S. Border Patrol officers nine days ago. Sweat was shot, critically wounded and captured by New York state troopers two days later.
The dramatic, intricate escape was the first from the maximum security lockup at Clinton in the prison's 150-year history. Days after Sweat's capture, the prison superintendent, two high-level administrators and nine security officials at Clinton were placed on administrative leave.
The superintendent was replaced a day later. The state inspector general is conducting a review of the escape and the operations at Clinton, which houses about 3,000 inmates with a correctional staff of almost 1,000.
Five Points Correctional Facility currently houses 1,294 inmates and has 669 employees, including 511 security staff.
