The first sitting U.S. president to visit Kenya also plans to meet with youth from the Young African Leaders Initiative and civic leaders, before travelling to neighboring Ethiopia later Sunday.
In an address to thousands at a sports arena, Obama, whose late father was born and buried in Kenya, is expected to focus on his vision for Kenya's future and the broad themes of U.S.-Kenya relations.

Obama, who arrived in Kenya on Friday, first visited the nation in 2006 when he was a U.S. senator.
On Saturday, he called on African nations to grant equal rights to gays and lesbians. Homosexuality is illegal in many African nations, including Kenya, and South Africa is the only African country to permit gay marriage. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta called gay rights a "non-issue" in the nation.
Obama also attended a state dinner, sitting at the head table with Kenyatta, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice.
