A schoolteacher in a Paris suburb who*claimed he was stabbed Monday by a man who invoked the Islamic State made up the story, French prosecutors*said.
The teacher, who has not been named, said a masked assailant attacked him*in a preschool in*Aubervilliers with a box-cutter and scissors.
The incident set off a manhunt after*French media, citing police, said the teacher, 45, was injured but was expected to survive after he*was stabbed in the throat and side and that the assailant escaped.
Police said the attacker*mentioned the militant group, also known as ISIL. However, police subsequently said that was based on the teacher's testimony.

The false report*comes as France remains under state-of-emergency anti-terrorism legislation following the attacks on Nov. 13 that killed 130 people.
On Sunday, France's anti-immigration National Front party failed to make expected gains in regional elections.
