WASHINGTON<span style="color: Red;">*</span>— <span style="color: Red;">*</span>The Fourth of July fireworks that launched from the national Mall disappeared into a hazy sky Monday night, but you wouldn't know that from watching the fireworks "live"<span style="color: Red;">*</span>on PBS.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>
Due to low-lying clouds from Monday’s rain showers<span style="color: Red;">*</span>the fireworks were difficult to see, but on the<span style="color: Red;">*</span>annual<span style="color: Red;">*</span>‘A Capitol Fourth’ broadcast on PBS<span style="color: Red;">*</span>the skies appeared clear.
It didn’t take long for people to start questioning what<span style="color: Red;">*</span>they were watching on PBS.
Viewers quickly realized what that PBS was using a compilation of stock video from past years of ‘A Capitol Fourth’ fireworks shows and some shots of the actual live fireworks show. Footage from Sunday's dress rehearsal may have also been used.
Cue the online outrage.
The ‘A Capitol Fourth’ Twitter page confirmed viewers’ speculations.
And some said they were OK with the decision to air old footage.
