A<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Mexican national suspected<span style="color: Red;">*</span>of killing five people in<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Kansas and Missouri<span style="color: Red;">*</span>was arrested Wednesday<span style="color: Red;">*</span>alongside a highway in central Missouri<span style="color: Red;">*</span>after a massive manhunt involving helicopters, police dogs and a SWAT team.
Authorities apprehended Pablo<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Antonio Serrano-Vitorino<span style="color: Red;">*</span>without<span style="color: Red;">*</span>a struggle just after midnight<span style="color: Red;">*</span>in Montgomery County, Mo., according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
He was found lying on a hill near Interstate<span style="color: Red;">*</span>70, according to<span style="color: Red;">*</span>The Kansas City Star.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>"He looked exhausted," Sgt. James Hedrick of the Missouri Highway Patrol told<span style="color: Red;">*</span>the newspaper.
The 40-year-old suspect is accused of killing four men late Monday at his neighbor's home in Kansas City, Kan. He is also wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Randy Nordman, 49, in Montgomery County on Tuesday.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a statement Tuesday night that Serrano-Vitorino, of Mexico, was deported from the U.S. in April 2004 and illegally re-entered “on an unknown date,” according to the Associated Press.
Authorities zeroed in on<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Montgomery County<span style="color: Red;">*</span>after a pickup Serrano-Vitorino had apparently<span style="color: Red;">*</span>been<span style="color: Red;">*</span>driving was<span style="color: Red;">*</span>found abandoned early Tuesday. Shortly afterward, sheriff's deputies were called to a shooting about five<span style="color: Red;">*</span>miles away<span style="color: Red;">*</span>where Nordman's body was discovered, according to the highway patrol.
Searchers began scouring the area after a 911 caller reported seeing someone matching Serrano-Vitorino's description fleeing<span style="color: Red;">*</span>the area on foot.
Police have not released the names of the four victims in Kansas, but relatives identified three of them to the Kansas City Star as Mike Capps and brothers Clint and Austin Harter.
