At least 30 people died after a ferry capsized in the Philippines on Thursday, local media report.
The Philippine Star said the vessel overturned soon after leaving the port of Ormoc City on the island of Leyte. It was headed for Camotes Island on the island province of Cebu, it said.
The Philippine Coast Guard said 173 passengers were aboard the Kim Nirvana-B when it overturned about 100 meters from Ormoc soon after midday local time, according to the paper.
AFP, citing the government, said the death toll has increased to at least 33.
