Marco Rubio squeaked by Ohio Gov. John Kasich in Saturday night's Republican presidential caucuses in Washington, D.C., and picked up<span style="color: Red;">*</span>the most delegates, according to media reports.
The Associated Press called the contest for the Florida senator at 10:02 p.m. ET, the news organization tweeted. NBC News later projected Rubio won the caucuses, picking up 10 delegates and 37%<span style="color: Red;">*</span>of the vote.
Kasich came at a close second at 36%, followed by businessman Donald Trump at 14%<span style="color: Red;">*</span>and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at 12%, according to NBC News.
Kasich will receive nine delegates.<span style="color: Red;">*</span>None of the other candidates in the race won enough votes to earn any delegates.
Rubio's communication director, Alex Conant, suggested in a tweet that the results show voters in the nation's capital are "embracing the future."
The convention had to be extended because hundreds of GOP voters
who remained in line at 4 p.m. Saturday when polls were scheduled to close for most voting groups.
The District has just 27,000 registered Republicans, according to<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Board of Elections statistics.
Still,<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Washington, D.C.' s was the only contest victory of the night for Rubio, who won only one delegate in Wyoming. Nine of the 12 delegates went to<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Cruz, another went to<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Trump and the last delegate remained uncommitted.
The Associated Press did<span style="color: Red;">*</span>not call a winner in Wyoming because another 14 delegates are to be awarded at the party’s state convention next month.

Ted Cruz takes most delegates in Wyoming
No delegates went Rubio's way in Guam's presidential contest. Cruz won Guam's contest and received<span style="color: Red;">*</span>one, but organizers decided to reconvene Tuesday to decide where the remaining delegates will go, according to the Associated Press.
It’s the third presidential contest victory for the Rubio. He won the GOP caucuses in Minnesota on Super Tuesday, as well as<span style="color: Red;">*</span>the<span style="color: Red;">*</span>Puerto Rico primary.
Several key states, including Florida and Ohio, are up for grabs Tuesday. Trump, the Republican frontrunner, remains far ahead of Rubio and the other Republican contenders. in the delegate count As of Saturday night, Trump has 470 delegates, Cruz follows with 370 and Rubio lags behind with 163. Kasich, who has 63 delegates, is last.
