The news that a*dog was killed, and three other dogs were injured in two*bizarre Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race*incidents early Saturday, has resulted in shock and tributes to the deceased*dog, Nash.
Nash's death and the other*injuries*came early Saturday morning when a*man on a snowmobile allegedly*drove into two dog teams.
Mushers*Aliy Zirkle*and Jeff King said they were*attacked in two separate incidents*outside the Alaskan*village of*Nulato. Both mushers were not seriously injured and have continued the race.
The three-year-old male Alaskan husky Nash was part of King's team, which also saw injuries to*Crosby, a three-year-old male, and Banjo, a two-year-old male, according Iditarod officials.
"The thought that this*seemed to be*intentional is horrifying," said Carrie Skinner, the office manager for Husky Homestead, the kennel owned and operated by King where the dogs were raised and trained. "We're all very shaken up about this."

Skinner remembered Nash as "a leader, a strong puller, and a dog that*just*really loved people." Nash was part of a litter*with other three*dogs named after the band Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

Crosby and his brother Nash were described as "the best of friends" who were "housed together and played together daily," said*Skinner.
Crosby too suffered a broken leg in the Saturday incident, according to Skinner.*Banjo was knocked unconscious and did not regain consciousness until he reached the checkpoint early Saturday.
"The outpouring of support and condolences*have*been overwhelming from friends and fans across the country and the world. It's amazing, " says Skinner. "We're getting emails and*phone calls about Nash from everywhere."
Meanwhile tributes poured in for Nash over Twitter.
The suspect in the incident has been identified by the village police*in Nulato, and authorities are conducting an investigation, according to*Iditarod officials.
