The man wanted in the deadly shooting at a community college in North Carolina has been arrested in Florida, police said Tuesday.
Kenneth Stancil, 20, was spotted sleeping on the beach in Daytona Beach, Fla., and arrested without incident, Goldsboro, N.C., police reported on the department's Facebook page.
Stancil is accused of shooting print shop director Ron Lane at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro on Monday morning.
The tragedy shocked the campus community, and the school was immediately placed on lockdown. Law enforcement officers swept through every campus building in pursuit of the gunman. Scores of police officers, tracking dogs and a helicopter conducted a manhunt for the accused killer.
Deputies with the Volusia County Beach Patrol said they found Stancil early Tuesday illegally sleeping on the beach. Stancil had a knife and was taken into custody after telling officers who he was, Goldsboro officials said. Stancil was being held in a Florida jail without bond pending extradition to North Carolina.

Lane was killed shortly after 8 a.m. in a bathroom on the third floor of the Wayne Learning Center, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said. Classes resumed at the school Tuesday, although the building's third floor was closed. The area is a nerve center for the school, including the library, academic skills center, IT offices and the print shop.
WNCN-TV reported that a relative of Lane's said Stancil had once worked for Lane and had been fired. Stancil's mother, Debbie Stancil, told the station that Lane "made inappropriate sexual advances toward him," which upset her son.
Police have not discussed a motive for the shooting.
Wayne Community College is a two-year school with about 4,000 students. According to its website, it offers 100 degree, diploma, certificate and continuing education programs.
