The 19-year-old Somali-Norwegian*man charged with fatally stabbing a U.S. tourist and injuring five others in London made a brief appearance in a British court Saturday.
Zakaria Bulhan is charged with the murder of*64-year-old Darlene Horton*and with attempted murder of others in the stabbing attack in London's Russell Square on Tuesday.
Horton was visiting London with her husband, Florida State University psychology professor Richard Wagner, who was teaching summer classes there. The couple was scheduled*to fly home the day after the Wednesday attack, according to the Associated Press.
Police say they*found no evidence of radicalization or links to terrorism in the attack.
Bulhan, who wore a plain gray tracksuit, was not represented by a*lawyer at the hearing, having refused to cooperate with a court-appointed*attorney, The Guardian reported.
The defendant*kept his hand over his mouth and mumbled almost inaudibly when asked to confirm his name, address and date of birth. When asked if he understood the charges, Bulhan*gave a thumb’s up gesture, AP reported.
He will appear before a*Central London Criminal court Tuesday.
