HOUSTON – Police arrested and charged a man with the murder of 11-year-old Josue Flores.
Twenty-seven-year-old Andre Jackson was taken into custody Friday, where he's being held on $100,000 bond. Police said Jackson stabbed Flores while he was walking home from Marshall Middle School*in north Houston on May 17.
It’s not Jackson’s first run-in with police. He was charged criminal trespass on March 4 and with unlawfully carrying a weapon May 1, 2015.
Houston Police released video of a person of interest Wednesday that was taken from a business near North Main around 4:45 p.m.on May 17. Investigators said the person of interest in the new video matches the description of the suspect seen running 4 minutes after*Josue's*murder.
Police said the individual was described as a black male, 25 to 30 years old, about 6 feet tall and weighing 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing a shirt, black pants and had a green jacket.
In his pervious arrests reports, Jackson was described as 6 feet and 150 pounds.
A knife was also found May 25*near the scene where Flores was stabbed, though police haven’t confirmed if the knife was the murder weapon.
Video released days after his death showed Flores' final moments as he walked home.
In the video, Flores*is walking alone on Fulton Street with his backpack on after leaving a science club party at school. He appears to nervously look behind him multiple times as he's walking.
Just two blocks away out of site of the camera, Flores was tragically killed.
Flores was laid to rest*May 24 at Holy Name Catholic Church. The church quickly reached its 500 capacity with people showing up to pay their respects.
Father Anil Thomas blessed the casket of the murdered child on the front steps on the church front of his family and a crowd on on-lookers.
Thomas says he met the boy’s family at the memorial site a day after Flores was murdered and has been praying with them ever since.
“We need to be united in prayer and god can help us to overcome all of our sorrows,” Thomas said.
