A picture is worth a thousand words. This one left us speechless
Renald "Luz" Luzier drew this week's Charlie Hebdo cover. When he talked about it today, he wept with the arms of his colleagues around him. Luzier said it wasn't the front page a terrorist would want. It wasn't even the front page the world would want. "But it's the front page we want," he said. The cover shows a weeping Mohammed holding a sign that says "Je suis Charlie'' (I am Charlie) with the words "All is forgiven" above him. New editor-in-chief Gerard Biard recalled the reaction by staff when they saw the cover. "When Luz showed us the drawing (for the front-page), we all burst into laughter and jumped in each other's arms," he said. "We knew we needed to figure out how to continue to laugh and making others laugh." This week's edition is the first since two gunmen opened fire on an editorial meeting of the newspaper last week that left 12 people dead.
Elon Musk is serious about moving us to Mars
Could humans eventually live on the Red Planet? Elon Musk thinks so. And now the billionaire CEO of SpaceX is looking to hire a large group of engineers in Seattle to make it happen. In an interview published today in Bloomberg News, Musk said efforts to build a commercial satellite business will give the company the know-how and the infrastructure to make eventual Mars shots and a colony possible. So why Seattle? The city has thousands of unemployed aviation engineers as Boeing continues to transfer engineering jobs out of the area. Washington Gov. Jay Inslee was practically giddy in a tweet about the possibility. "Welcome to WA, @SpaceX. We're ready to support @elonmusk's next revolutionary endeavor!"

Ann Curry is so done with NBC News
It was a long goodbye. Two years after she was humiliatingly dismissed from the Today show, Curry announced she's leaving the network as a full-time employee to begin a new relationship with NBCUniversal. She'll now be able to report on any platform and on any network, including NBC News. Curry worked for NBC for 25 years. She's done only a handful of special reports for the network, as a national and international correspondent and anchor-at-large, since her tearful departure from the morning show in June 2012. Rumor has it she was bummed to be doing so little, even though she was making mucho mula.

Ohio State QB should turn pro
Ohio State QB Cardale Jones pulled off arguably the greatest career by a college football QB in the history of the sport. Three starts, three wins, in the three biggest games of the season: Ohio State's must-win over Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game; Ohio State's must-win over SEC juggernaut Alabama in the Playoff Semifinal; and Ohio State's must-win over Nike juggernaut Oregon in the national title game. Jones displayed a cannon of an arm, an unstoppable 250-pound frame (which ESPN's Tommy Tomlinson accurately compared to a "vending machine come to life") and poise in the pocket (despite that notable fumble in the 3rd quarter). Things will not – no: cannot – get better for Jones at the college level. And now it is time for Jones to turn pro, immediately.
