Aaron Hernandez threw it all away

He had a $40 million contract with the New England Patriots. A fiancée. A baby daughter. A standout future ahead of him. Aaron Hernandez threw it all away. The former NFL star was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced today to life in prison without the possibility of parole, sealing his downfall. He was found guilty in the late-night shooting death of Odin Lloyd, 27, a landscaper and amateur weekend football player who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancée. As soon as the judge announced the verdict, Hernandez mouthed to the jury: "You're wrong." Some still can't reconcile the Hernandez portrayed in the case and the one they knew on the field. Next up for the former player? More legal trouble. Hernandez is awaiting trial on murder charges in a drive-by shooting in Boston. He's accused of gunning down two men over a spilled drink at a nightclub.
I just can't wrap my head around this. For the first time, it's real. That's not the kid I knew. I just can't understand it...

Not done with your taxes? Don't panic
The April 15 tax deadline is here and you still haven't finished your taxes. What do you do now? First, try not to panic. We've put together some last-minute tips and advice to help you get through it. Oh, and don't forget to break for some free food.1) File on time even if you can't pay: There are separate fees for failing to pay vs. failing to file, and generally it's going to cost you more if you file late than if you pay late. 2) File an extension and pay as much as you can: If you can't get the paperwork done by the deadline, file for an extension. Every American taxpayer is eligible for an automatic extension if you ask, pushing back the due date of your return six months to Oct. 15. 3) Don't overlook important tax credits and deductions: If you're still scrambling to complete your return, it's easy to forget about important last-minute deductions. Here are some that are often overlooked. And seven more unusual (yet legitimate) deductions that might help you out.

If you're trying to shop using Google search, the EU says the company may be cheating you
So you're sitting at home (or work, we won't tell) searching Google for that thing you need (dress, tie, sweater, bag, whatever) for that thing you have to attend. You're thinking Google is giving the best results for your search, right? Well, the European Union doesn't agree and is calling out Google on it. The EU's competition regulator today accused the tech giant of illegally abusing its dominance of the Internet search market in Europe by favoring its own comparison-shopping product when consumers shop online. In other words, the most relevant links aren't necessarily listed first. Google, which accounts for 90% of all Internet searches in Europe, says the EU's claim isn't true, and the company will explain its case in the coming weeks. This isn't the first time the EU has gone after a big tech company. Remember its decade-long fight with Microsoft? It ended in 2009 with Microsoft paying over $2 billion in fines.

Kim Kardashian gets covered up in ultra-Orthodox site's photo
This has gotta be a first: Kim Kardashian not in the picture. But it happened in Israel, on an ultra-Orthodox Jewish news website, which covered or blurred her face in a picture of her in Jerusalem. The editor of Kikar HaShabbat said Kardashian was cut from the photos because she's a "pornographic symbol." Kim and husband Kanye West had dinner with Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, but the picture of the three of them showed only Kanye and the mayor. Why were they in Israel? Kim, Kanye and daughter North West have been on a "roots tour" with some of Kim's Kardashian clan. Last week, they were in Armenia; on Monday, they arrived in Jerusalem, where they had North baptized. But back to photos of Kim, because really, who can get enough? We got a look at Selfish, a book of her selfies that offers a "timeline of Kim's life in and out of the spotlight." Just in case you were looking for something for your coffee table.
#mustread: Feds not alerted as infections from medical scopes spread
Medical device makers are required to file reports to the Food and Drug Administration within 30 days of learning that a product may pose safety risks. But as duodenoscopes were tied to the transmission of drug-resistant bacteria among patients in at least eight U.S. hospitals from 2012 to 2014, the agency wasn't notified of some outbreaks until long after they occurred, an ongoing USA TODAY investigation finds. And in some cases, the disclosures never were filed. Read the startling report from USA TODAY's Peter Eisler.

That's one way to protest government corruption. A Florida man landed his gyrocopter near the Capitol grounds today as an act of civil disobedience. Interestingly, Doug Hughes, 61, contacted a reporter at the Tampa Bay Times to let the newspaper know about his plan in case he was shot down and killed. Watch raw video of the landing below:

History has been made. A Houston couple became the parents of the United States' first ever all-girl quintuplets. It's the first time five girls have been born together worldwide since 1969. OK, now that we've marveled at that, someone get these parents some diapers.
