Apple's fourth quarter was just as shiny as the new iPhones
Wow. Just wow. Apple sold more than 48 million iPhones — 48 million! — in the fourth quarter that ended in September. Remember those new iPhones that went on sale Sept. 25? Well, CEO Tim Cooke is hoping the popularity of those models will make for a happy holiday season. But Apple isn't just selling more iPhones; it's selling more higher-priced iPhones. All of which explains why Apple expects to surpass last year's record of 74.5 million iPhones sold in the December quarter — a feat that some investors doubt Apple can repeat. (Never mind those naysayers.) And even though it cautioned the current quarter's revenue might be on the low end of estimates, Apple's fourth-quarter were earnings stronger than analysts' forecasts. And if that weren't good news enough, the tech giant's cash and investments during the quarter jumped to $206 billion — a staggering 33% increase from the same period a year ago — and they can't get rid of it fast enough.

Forget the cancer warning. We're adding Reese's cups to our burgers!
That's what one restaurant chain is saying as it introduces a hefty half-pound patty topped with bacon, crispy onion strings and — wait for it — crumbled Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. And that's not all: The burger itself is actually STUFFED with Reese's cups before it's cooked! Where can I get this heart-stopping wonder on a bun? Canada. The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro has 26 restaurants scattered across Ontario. We don't care about the World Health Organization's recent warning about meat; we're updating our passports.

Ben Carson boots The Donald from the top of the USA TODAY GOP Power Rankings
But we haven't seen the last of Trump yet — not even close. Even though our political experts say Carson's surge over Trump in Iowa polling is "a huge shift," they also point to The Donald's resilience. "People in this poll have considered every flap of a bird's wing in Iowa or New Hampshire to signify the end of Trump," says HeadCount's Aaron Ghitelman. "And we've been wrong every time." In other Iowa news, Hillary Clinton has a cushy 41-point lead over Bernie Sanders, and that's despite that doozy of a Snapchat filter.

The Bobbi Kristina story gets even sadder
Bobbi Kristina Brown's ex-roomie said in a deposition that she saw Bobbi Kristina use pot and that she may have used crack cocaine and heroin in the days before she was found unconscious in January. (You might recall that Bobbi Kristina never woke up and died July 26. She was 22.) Danyela Bradley, who lived with Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon in Atlanta, said in the deposition that Bobbi Kristina "probably smoked crack often, and also did heroin." "I would just visually see her physical being, and I could just tell," Bradley explained. "She wouldn't have to tell me."

With the NBA season opening tonight, here's a three-pointer of things you need to know
1. Stephen Curry could be even better. Late-night comedian Steven Colbert called Curry the "Uber" of basketball because he changed the game. He's working on cutting down on turnovers, is getting more in sync with the system, and is only 27. 2.LeBron James sees the big picture in Cleveland. The four-time MVP knows he's on a team that can win it call. It's all about avoiding injuries, though. "For our team," he said. "health is going to be No. 1 because we have so many great pieces." The Cavs lost to the Warriors in the Finals, but two of their top guys were injured. This just might be their year. 3.Flip Saunders' death weighs heavy on the Timberwolves.General manager Milt Newton spoke to the NBA about postponing Wednesday's season opener against the Lakers, but he expects it to be played. "You can see we're hurting," said Karl-Anthony Towns, the No. 1 overall pick in Saunders' final draft. For all things NBA, scope out the NBA A to Z podcast. It's awesome. Oh, and since we're talking sports, we'd be remiss not to mention tonight is Game 1 of the World Series in Kansas City. Follow along here.

If you only read one thing tonight: Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, decrying the tenor of the immigration debate today, offers a personal perspective on the costs and consequences of political rhetoric taken too far.
