Once again, the Oscar nominations are marked by a glaring lack of diversity.(Photo: Mark Ralston, AFP/Getty Images)

Notice anything about the Oscar nominations this year?
No black actors in any major categories. Hollywood sure loves a sequel. All 20 slots*went to white actors*when the*nominations*were announced Thursday, which also happened last year. (Remember*David Oyelowo?)*Cue #OscarsSoWhite*(part deux).*So who was overlooked? Idris Elba in*Beasts of No Nation, Samuel L. Jackson in The Hateful Eight, Tessa Thompson in*Creed*and*Jason Mitchell in*Straight Outta Compton, to name a few.*Gil Robertson, president of the African American Film Critics Association, said this year is even more offensive: "It's like beating an old horse."
Amazon was so happy it scored two Golden Globes that it's giving you this major discount
Dropping the price*of a Prime membership*to $73, down from $99. You can thank*its series*Mozart in the Jungle, which won two Golden Globes awards.*The promotion begins at*9 p.m. PT*Friday and runs through 11:59 p.m. Sunday your time. The awesomeness of Prime is that it*offers free two-day shipping on millions of items purchased through the Amazon*website, and gives you free access to things like Amazon Instant Video and Amazon Music. Never thought we'd say this but, we'd like to thank the*Hollywood Foreign Press.

In Jakarta, an awful reminder of*the Paris attacks
It's happened again. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for a*terror*attack Thursday in Jakarta, Indonesia, that left 7 dead, including five terrorists. Three bombs*near a Starbucks*rocked a busy shopping area close to embassies and a U.N. office. Analysts say the attack was the work of a sophisticated terror cell, while police said*it was an attempt to mimic the November Paris attacks.

Harry Potter says goodbye to Severus Snape
And just like that, the world lost a little magic. "I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life," Daniel Radcliffe wrote in a tribute to veteran actor Alan Rickman, who died of cancer at the age of 69. Rickman was a legend on stage and on screen (Love Actually, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Die Hard, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves), but to one generation, he will always be Severus Snape, Harry Potter's teacher at Hogwarts who morphed from villain to hero and became one of the most universally adored characters in J.K. Rowling's beloved series. We raise our wands to you, Alan. Always.

Meet your first January hurricane since 1938
It's been nearly 80 years since there was a hurricane in January in the Atlantic. That changed Thursday*when Alex became a named storm. It's a dangerous one: Forecasters say heavy rain could spur life-threatening flash floods and mudslides in the Azores, an island chain 850 miles west of Portugal.
