Black Friday is basically happening all the time now
What you should know. If you are a RadioShack shopper —*Are you? Really? Tell us why. Holler at #TheShortList.*—*then you'll find deals actually starting*today.*The once-outdated electronics retailer*and*bunch of other stores, will also be open on Thanksgiving. As for Black Friday.*The best deal so far? A $150 50-inch TV*from Amazon, but there's a catch. You can only snag it on the mobile app. Other stores are also thinking along those lines, so*if you’re looking to save money this holiday season, take a few minutes after reading this and load up your phone with retail*apps. (Oh hey, also download the USA TODAY app, if you haven't already. We like it.). Must-reads. 1. Do not, repeat, do not buy these four things. 2. The truth about those doorbusters. 3.*Here is*literally everything you need to know*about Black Friday. Because even though it's Wednesday, let's be honest: It's kind of already here.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, if you're traveling today, know this
Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother's house …*to #Friendsgiving …*to a restaurant by yourself …*whatever your holiday plans, we wish you well. If you're traveling by air, the good news is that it's mostly calm in terms of delays and cancellations. That's a relief*because travelers are feeling a little on edge from the heightened security following the Paris attacks and other bad things happening in the world. Even though there are no specific threats, Obama says*U.S. military, intelligence, and law enforcement*officials are "working overtime" this Thanksgiving. Here are some tried-and-true tips that can make flying less stressful. Check your flight status here. If you're driving today, our hearts go out to you. Maybe you can ease*the pain of the drive with some USA TODAY podcasts.

After #LaquanMcDonald video release, here's what to expect this weekend in Chicago
After Tuesday's night of loud, angry protests over the Laquan McDonald video release, protest groups continued to stage demonstrations into Wednesday and are expected to organize more in the days ahead. The video, which was released by Chicago police, shows a white officer shooting a black teen 16 times. Demonstrators say they plan to block the main city's shopping thoroughfare, Michigan Avenue, during Friday's holiday spending bonanza. An internal Chicago Police Department safety alert Tuesday warned that gang members may be looking to carry out an ambush against cops. But it’s unclear if police are still concerned about the threat as they brace for a second night of protest.

Can the Warriors be stopped?
The Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Lakers 111-77 on Tuesday night to become the first team in NBA history to begin a season 16-0.*What makes their start more impressive is that the team is being led by interim coach Luke Walton while Steve Kerr is on medical leave after two back surgeries this summer. Now that one piece of history has been achieved, the Warriors can take aim at a bigger goal: beating the 1995-96 Bulls record of 72-10 for a season. It’s something MVP Stephen Curry thinks is possible.
#longread: What's really threatening the American dream
White picket fences. A home in the 'burbs.*America, we've long told ourselves, is a nation of homeowners. It's part of our national credo: A family that owns its home cares for it and improves it, luxuriates in its memories and profits from its sale.*A home is a comfort, a burden, an investment, a status symbol.*But now this most tangible measure of the*American Dream*is in doubt. Many are turning to renting because it makes the most sense for them. And actually, it's not that tragic. Dive deeper into America's housing trends with this great piece from USA TODAY's Rick Hampson.
