Donald Trump continues to hold a double-digit lead in the New Hampshire GOP presidential primary but it’s Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida — not neurologist Ben Carson or Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas — who*has begun to emerge as the clear second choice among Granite State voters, a Fox News poll released Wednesday shows.
On the Democratic side, the poll shows Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont up by 1 percentage point over former secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a statistical tie that’s*mostly in line with previous surveys which*have shown the race up for grabs.
The poll of 804*New Hampshire registered voters — 353 Republicans, 302 Democrats and 149 others — was conducted by telephone with live interviewers*Nov. 15-17.*
Trump received 27% among the 353 Republicans surveyed, followed by Rubio (13%) and Cruz (11%). Carson was tied for fourth with former Florida governor Jeb Bush*at 9%.
The 14-point cushion is similar to previous*margins Trump has enjoyed in New Hampshire. But Rubio, riding momentum from well-praised debate performances, has climbed into second place in the state that holds the nation’s first presidential primary.
According to the RealClearPolitics,*the leaders for the GOP primary in New Hampshire based on the average of the most recent four polls are:*Trump (26.3%), Rubio (12.3%), Carson (11.3%) and Cruz (10%).
