Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has been the target of many late-night talk show hosts’ jokes since he declared his candidacy.
On Friday night, he decided to join in on the action.
Trump appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Friday and he poked some fun at himself in a skit where Fallon plays his*reflection in a dressing room mirror.
“Let’s be honest, Fallon’s a lightweight. No way he deserves to interview me,” Fallon quips as Trump. “The only one qualified to interview me, is me.”
It was clear Trump was enjoying himself — so to speak — during the sketch. At several points *he turns to the audience, beaming, especially when Fallon says, “I’m like a Greek god that just took a bath in a Pumpkin Spice Latte.”
At one point “Trump” (Fallon) prepares for his interview by asking*himself about his plans to lower unemployment.
Fallon: How are you going to create jobs in this country?
Trump: I’m just going to do it.
Fallon: Right. Right. But how?
Trump: By doing it. It just happens.
Fallon: Genius!
On the suggestion that actor Gary Busey be his running mate:
Trump: Look, I love Gary. He’s fantastic, but more of a Supreme Court Justice, in my opinion. Vice President is a very seious job. So I’m probably going to go with someone else. I would say maybe Kanye West.
Fallon: Smart move!
Perhaps not since a saxophone-playing Bill Clinton has a presidential candidate seemed quite so at home on the late-night talk show stage.
